While astral projection is something that everyone is capable of doing and that the astral body is attached to the physical body by a tie that can only be broken by death there is still a need to remain conscience of what is going on while astral projecting and be in a state to maintain that frame of mind.
Attempting astral projection under the influence of mind altering and perception altering substances such as drugs or alcohol can have a serious effect on the ability of the traveler to travel in safety.
This is why it is so important that you know exactly what you are doing and where you are planning to go. The goal you are trying to achieve is not just astral projecting, but conscious astral projection where you are aware of what is going on.
