Fortunately, the pivot table is the right tool for the job. The pivot table is a tool which allows for a rearranging of the data which would be used for a specific report. In data mining for example, the pivot table tool is invaluable in getting the specific data that they need. The data that will be searched by the pivot table is not just ordinary data. This is especially true for data mining for business, when theyhave to look for the specific "dimension" of the data that they need.
Pivot tables could be created from several programs. Simpler pivot tables could be created from basic office tools like Microsoft Excel, or could be created using a more dedicated tool used for data mining. Pivot table access is of course made simple just by following the helpful guidelines found in the program itself. These pivot table basics could be mastered by remembering the simple formula, or clicking the right tabs on the pivot table creation panel.
In creating reports of course, one must be sure of what data to look for. The pivot table tool is there to help one in mining that specific data. The pivot table is as good as the data that was collected. If the data that was found is not exactly what they are after, then the report itself is already compromised. In a business setting, one knows what to look for because of the data's multidimensional characteristics.
These multimensional characteristics are of course something that a business data analyst could understand. These characteristics could mean interrelated data such as customer statistics, market share, and product sales. Getting a specific report that deals with new trends for example would mean that the data should be arranged in a way to get what they want. This arrangement, called as slice and dice, arranges the data so as to show a specific inquiry. An appropriate "slice and dice" could net the data analyst what he is searching for in no time flat.
Pivot tables are tools for people to use and create accurate reports, or for data analysis. And pivot table tools are of course just as good as what they were built for. They come with their own features, which could be simple or sophisticated enough according to what they will be accomplishing. And knowing what the tool can do will help in getting the data that they wanted, and creating the report that reflects that data. And as always, it is through the understanding of the tools of the trade which makes for a better business.
