Know this: All of these things count (okay, perhaps not the software package, but the other things). You must have patience, business savvy and creativity if you wish to succeed. However, none of those things are going to matter if you are not able to intelligibly communicate all of them to the people you want to do business with you.




Good communication involves more than merely creating a convincing sales page. A skilled copywriter can deal with that component of your project. Good communication is more than having a beautiful website with an extensive FAQ area. You can get those by engaging the services of skilled designers and writers. Good communication involves being good with interpersonal communication and in direct copy too. How do you get that?

1. Reply to every email you receive within 24 hours of it hitting your inbox. This is no joke. Your reply doesn't need to be long. All you have to do is write a quick note that says something like "I got your e-mail and will be sending you a full reply shortly." Try includuding a snippet of the message the sender has written when you do this. This helps the person you email tell your mail apart from the autoresponders that other Internet marketers use.

2. Answer calls. It's not a good idea to screen your calls. Try answering the phone by the third ring. This is true even if you truly don't want to talk to the person making the call. There's great news about this rule. There's no need for you to be attached to the telephone 24/7. Instead, simply set certain "business" hours during which you can answer phone calls. Put out these hours on your web site and in your voice mail message too. And, obviously, every person who leaves a message deserves a return call.

3. Check in with people to make sure that they got your memos, emails, messages, etc. This shows them that you care about your correspondence with them. It will help your clients and buyers trust you further if you really take the time to ask if they have any questions about your messages so that they can ask you to clear up anything they need clarified.
