Eucalyptus - the word itself gives me an aromatic imagination of leaves and a wave of relaxation subsides within me. Eucalyptus leaves are known to be a traditional remedy. Its oil is also known to relieve cough and colds and other illnesses. Eucalyptus has a decided disinfectant action thus destroying lower forms of life such as bacteria leaving them to be effective deodorants, expectorants, and antibacterials. The Blue Gum is the most common eucalyptus that is widely used for various purposes.
Eucalyptus was first introduced to Australia by a famous man named Joseph Banks on the year 1770 during the Cook expedition. From then on, it was introduced to various parts of the world. 2. Eucalyptus oil can be used to spray on a room, especially when someone sick lived inside the room. All you have to do is make a spray by adding 20-25 drops of the oil to 300ml of water. Shake it first properly before using and spray it on the room to kill the germs.
Although eucalyptus is proven to be very helpful, one has to still be careful with its use. Here are just some possibilities that the eucalyptus oil may give:
1. It can cause skin irritation and therefore should be used in moderation.
2. The oil should not be given to children below 5years old and if given to those beyond this age then they should be watched carefully for possible irritations.
