The hospitality industry consists in the service industry( lodging, restaurants, event planning, theme parks, transportation, cruise line) and additional fields within the tourism industry.
There are lots of hotels anywhere in the world, on continents, on islands, like: boutique hotel Ibiza and even on water in some countries. The hotels are unique types of buildings which provide accommodation and other services that the client needs for a longer stay.
People usually book their rooms with weeks in advanced, especially in the most popular hotels like Ibiza beach hotel
in the Balearic Islands, Spain, because usually clients prefer the same services of a hotel if they enjoyed their stay there

People choose from the most cheap hotels for a short stay to the most expensive ones, like luxury Ibiza hotels.

Usually small hotels have only 2 or 3 managers compared with the larger hotels that have their business spread all around the world, on different continents and that need a large management team.
A large full service hotel has more key directors that take care of one hotel department and have more people underneath them, other managers in charge of the subdivisions of the departments , supervisors etc.
A large resort hotel will have a General Manager, a an assistant of the General Manager , a Director of Front Office with a Front Desk Manager, a Front Desk Supervisor and a Rooms Coordinator. The Director of Front Office has also a Night Auditor, a Guest Services Manager, which has a Concierge Supervisor, a Bell Captain and a Valet Captain.
Thinking of the department of Housekeeping, we have an Executive Housekeeper and underneath a Housekeeping Manager, a Floor Supervisor, a Laundry Supervisor, a Public Area Supervisor.
The Department of Food and Beverage has a Director, a Restaurant Manager with his own Restaurant Supervisor, an Executive Chef, a Room Service Manager with his Room Service Captain and a Bar Manager.
The Director of Finance is helped by the Finance Manager and the other employees of the department. The Chief Engineer counts on the help provided by the Engineering Manager and the other employees of the department.
The small hotels though count only on a General Manager , a Front Office Manager, a Housekeeping Manager, a Sales Manager and a Food and Beverage Manager.
To be a hotel manager you need to have some good qualifications besides industry experience. The education consists in a high school diploma, a degree in Hospitality management studies or an equivalents Business degree and if possible a graduate degree of a General Manager.
