Entrepreneur and technology pioneer Naveen Jain generously supports organizations that advocate women and children’s rights and welfare, education, poverty reduction, and quality medical care. He has given financial donations to charitable activities of organizations like United Way, Children’s Hospital, HopeLink, Tree House, Boys and Girls Club, American Indian Foundation, Vedic Cultural Center, Seattle Art Museum, Childs Rights & You, and the University of Washington.
The desire to help underprivileged people sprouted when Naveen Jain was growing up in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India where he saw that poverty-stricken women and children were unable to acquire education. With a personal vow to help his people in the future, he decided to finish his studies and work hard to become successful.
In 1989, Microsoft Corporation tapped Naveen Jain to join a business exchange program in the United States. He worked for Microsoft for seven years with a top management position. In 1996, along with colleagues from Microsoft, he co-founded InfoSpace, a company that provided information to cellphone-accessed websites and content to other Internet sites. In 2003, he then started Intelius, Inc, an online firm that gives clients accurate information about people and places based on available public records. Intelius has paved the way for millions of Americans to easily and speedily conduct background and criminal records search via the Internet.
Included in the Forbes list of wealthiest persons in the world with a net worth of $2.2 billion in 2000 alone, Jain received awards such as the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year and the Albert Einstein Technology Medal for pioneers in technology. He has also been included in the Top 20 Entrepreneurs by the Red Herring.
