A slight improvement over these rudimentary cards was the introduction of holograms or a three dimensional printed logo mark that was difficult to duplicate and hence difficult to defraud. . Plastic cards were further improved when electronic chip was embedded in them to store digital information. This modification to the plastic cards was a big leap in the uses of plastic cards in general as security of the information stored became manageable. A magnetic strip was also included in the plastic cards to further increase the security aspect. The characters of the embossed number stand out on the top surface of the plastic card.
