Since child safety is a major concern for entrepreneur and philanthropist Naveen Jain, he allowed Intelius, the online information service provider he founded in 2003, to offer free background checks to the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue. The club used the company’s Instant Nationwide Employment Checks to check the identities and backgrounds of its workers, volunteers and applicants. This is to ensure the safety of the children who go to the club for learning and recreation after school. The Nationwide Employment Check includes a sex offender registry check, a nationwide criminal check, address history, and identity verification, among others.
The workers and volunteers of the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue serve as coaches, referees and scorekeepers in sports activities. They also provide tutors, mentors, and instructors of different subjects. Using the services of Intelius is a way to assure parents that their kids are in safe hands in a secure place.
The National Child Safety Foundation, through its founder, Jeff Powell, lauded the Boys and Girls Club of Bellevue for doing background screening on their workers and volunteers. Powell is an advocate of the use of Intellius’ background checks in organizations for according to him, they are convenient, accurate and cost-effective. To him, a child’s safety should not be compromised.
The goal of his company, according to Naveen Hain, is to empower its customers with data that would help them make decisions to safeguard themselves, their loved-ones, their work, and their businesses and assets.
