If you are thinking of visiting Africa, be sure that you can pay there for hotel, your meals, transportation and shopping. If you reach the land with your USDs then you will face the problem to exchange them. So first be sure that you have exchanged them, so that you can make it a happy journey.
•If you don’t want to take the hassle of exchanging money and carrying it, then go use credit card, it is great substitute for cash, accepted all over Africa. But this credit card may turn out to be just a card and not plastic money if you are visiting a remote place, where they don’t use or even haven’t seen a credit card.
• ATMs are the other option for you, as you may use them as a currency exchange source. But you have to there where you may find ATMs. You can take out money there with the banks exchange rate. But there is another drawback in it, they may charge you, as you may not be using the bank’s ATM you have the account in.
•Some of the currencies used in Africa, are not that much used, hence your bank may not have it, so before you travel to Africa it is advisable that you call your bank and confirm that they arrange you the currencies at time of your need.
•This is a tip, for what you should not do to exchange your money while you are traveling to Africa. Be cautious when you are using those sites which exchange currencies, before you actually use it, check with reviews, and real people if they are genuine, if you do not get any prove of that, do not use the site, or you may lose your money.
•Do not exchange money on air port or hotel the exchange rate they offer is really low, you will get a better rate for sure if you go to any reputable bank such as American Express.
